Open River Day, Oxford, 7 May. Angling demonstrations by experts and a chance
to try it for yourself. Free tuition by professionals - tackle
and bait provided. Sponsored by Fat Phil's Angling Centre and the
Environment Agency. Donnington Bridge, Oxford, 11 am-5 pm.
Two fly-fishing demonstrations by the Salmon and Trout Association
backed by Hardy fishing equipment. 1.30-2 pm, and 3.15- 3.45pm.
Farmoor Open Weekend, June 23-24. try fly-fishing for some of the best trout in England.
Hinksey Lake, Oxford, 28 July. Learn to coarse fish with professional angling coaches. Fishing tackle, bait and licences provided.
Ladygrove Lakes, Didcot, 2 August. Free angling lessons from the experts. Equipment, licences and bait provided.
Family Fishing Days, Beale Park, 21-22 August. Another chance to try fishing for free with professional coaches in a beautiful setting near Pangbourne.
Open Matches through the Year.
The following competitions are open to all. Bring
your own bait and equipment. Pay your entry fee, have breakfast, pick a
number from the hat, go to a peg, and fish from 10am to 3am. The winner
is the one who catches the biggest quantity (by weight) of fish. Cash
prizes!
